Really great skill required to play and enjoy May 8, 2010 J. Burgess (bolton England) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
One of our all time favorites this game was a great puzzler from the begining to the end and not too easy to play also, there were many levels of thinking and puzzlement to complete we found that this game also lasted a long time so was very good value for money.
Buy it! March 10, 2010 Mrs. A. R. Punter (Bristol, UK) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
Great game, although haven't finished it yet. Got all the Mystery Case File games and they just keep getting better and better. I love them! Good puzzles, good story. I hope there will be a new Mystery Case File game soon.
Excellent Value, Good Game June 13, 2010 Ruth Page (Hampshire, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have enjoyed previous Mystery Case Files games, particularly the 'Ravenhearst' thread, but found that the themes, effects and some of the attempts at humour to be increasingly daft and cringeworthy. This is not so with Dire Grove, which I think is MCF's best release to date.
A good background story, complex puzzles and well-arranged Hidden Object sections combine to ensure hours of gameplay and excellent value for money.
I didn't know what to expect when I saw that the story is revealed through live-action video clips, but I was pleasantly surprised. The four actors are talented, engaging and plausible and you feel for them as their fears increase (the chap who plays Jack, the guy with glasses, is also seriously gorgeous... not that that influenced me in any way, hehehe...).
Quality artwork throughout and problems to solve that genuinely require thought make Dire Grove a fantastic product. Some of the effects and clips, however, would probably be a little too frightening for younger players, but that just adds to the fun for the rest of us!
Dire can be fun! June 10, 2010 Mr. A. S. Cook 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Probably the best balanced game of the 'hidden object' type that I have come across. The puzzles are principally a matter of logic. Items are collected and used to solve other problems. I particularly liked the inclusion of a walk-through; it's easy to call on only when needed, and there was certainly one particular problem (involving the wolf) that would not have ever occurred to me. In addition to the main game there are particular objects dotted around which, when identified, lead onto a further stage. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Mystery Case Files does it again. June 12, 2010 Mr. J. P. Williams (Wrexham, Wales) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All fans of hidden object games will enjoy this. There are some really quite challenging puzzles to solve before the mystery unfolds.I really enjoyed it & I don't think that you would be disappointed
